  4. Reporting Broken Links

Some of you might have noticed by now that at the bottom of the threads there is a new button called Report Broken Links. This little piece of code has been hand-coded by the MechoPirate Admin Team and we are pleased to say this is now working better than we anticipated
Lets say a member by the name of peterparker puts a post up with a movie and 6 download links but none of those links work, Rather than skipping past them we ask if you can please click the
Report Broken Links button and notify the author who can then either re-upload using mirrors OR trash the thread.
As we run the site for the community and so many people frequent our site this is our way of asking for a little help, not only is it going to save many man hours per week it will also keep the content fresh and active for you all and encourage frequent visitation rather than sporadic

We thank you for your assistance with this matter and hope you all enjoy the wonderful treats that MechoPirate has to offer

  5. We are currently on the look out for moderators. this means that we will need to expand the team to include more dedicated members which will help our current team handle the forums, your duties will be clear and a certain level of maturity is required if you even want to be considered for the position Section Moderator. Members can PM MechoPirate for an application, what you post will define what type of moderator you will be and ultimately if you are suitable to handle it. Members who constantly troll will not be considered, as mentioned before a certain level of maturity is required and as a moderator your view towards members will change drastically.

If you would like to be considered for the position Start a Thread in the Announcements: Applications Section or PM MechoPirate with why you would be suitable. We are looking for dedicated members only, simply visiting the forums once every week will not be accepted. You are expected to be very active to handle both reports & threads without being told to, you will be working relevantly independent and must be able to make the judgment calls necessary for the job and yes, this could involve warning and even banning friends. those who are successful will be given moderator powers in the section they request and a free S-VIP VIP name for when they are off duty.

    Pr1Nc3 The Lost One

    • Here's a simple helpful guide for all (New Members/Newbies) on how to upload files to share. Although this guide is based on how to upload a film, it's still basically the same routine or procedure for any file you want to upload.

    • First of all it is important to understand a few things. People in every file sharing community often place their uploads in .rar format for many reasons:
So they can split the bigger files into smaller fragments that can be rejoined when downloaded again.
So they can password protect their files to prevent people from taking credit for their uploads.
So they can hide the file’s identity to prevent the host from deleting their uploads.

      Preparing Your Film:

    • If you have a film in video format you want to share, there’s a set of steps you must take to get the file from your computer, to a place where everyone can download it. First you want to decide which file-hosting website you’re going to use, here’s a big list of the currently available ones:

      Free File Hosting

    • For my personal opinion the most popular place for uploads is Rapidshare due to its completely free services, big servers & high speed.
For this reason this guide is going to be using Rapidshare as its main example. Realising that Rapidshare has a 100mb per file limit, you will first want to right-click on the video & click 'Properties'. When you’ve done so, there should be the size of the file displayed in bytes, highlighted in this image:

    • Using this size, we can now determine the size we want each .rar file to be. If your video is 700MB, you will want the video to be in 7 different parts. If the video is 800MB, you’ll want the video to be in 8 parts. Hopefully you get the idea now, each part should be 100MB or less. To calculate the size each file should be, visit Google & paste the size of the film in bytes (in the previous step) into the search bar & divide it by the number of parts you want. Press 'Google Search' & it will calculate the exact amount of bytes you need to enter into WinRAR. I’m dividing by 7 parts here:

Remember the number Google gives you because you'll need it later!

    • Now that you know the exact number of bytes each part should be, right click your video & select ‘Add to Archive.’ Next you’ll see a list of options, as shown in this image:

      1. This is where you can choose the name for each section of your file, but remember to use a name that doesn’t make the file obvious. If the host detects that you’re uploading something illegal they will Delete Your File(s).

      2. This is where you type the size you want each section to be, so paste the number Google gave you into the box. For example I would paste 104,786,213 in this field.

    • If you want to password protect your files, click the ‘Advanced’ tab & press ‘Set Password.’ Then simply type your password in, click the box Encrypt file names & press Ok when you’re done, as shown in the image:

    Pr1Nc3 The Lost One

    • Once you’ve chosen the password (remember the password because people will need it to access your files!), press Ok & WinRar will begin to split your video into the number of sections you chose. This process takes a while to complete & the bigger the file, the longer you’ll be waiting, so have some patience. When it’s done you should have x amount of .rar files on your desktop ending in Part1.rar Part2.rar Part3.rar & so on (x being the size of the video divided by 100MB). The new files should look something like this:

Now you're ready to upload it into any free website host! You have successfully split your file & uploaded it ready for people to download!

This method is not just for uploading videos, the same process can be used to upload anything you want. The same applies when uploading to other websites, except you just acknowledge what their file size limit is & adapt your sizes accordingly. The smaller the file, the easier your uploading will be!

To post your upload links, create a new thread in the appropriate section

      Enjoy And Happy Uploading!!!
